Damplifly – a closer look at my piece in it.
Damplifly by Johannes Bergmark, Luc Kerléo and a colleague. was a sound environment exhibited at OKNO festival in Szczecin, poland in November, 2008. Venue: Muzeum Narodowe w Szczecinie, ul. Staromłyńska 27 (Museum of Contemporary art) at ul. Staromłyńska 27. This group of musicians, sculptors and performers prepared an interactive sound environment especially for the OKNO Festival, available for the audience all the time during the festival. Their point of departure is curiosity for experiencing the sonic possibilities: of objects and space and our relation to them, matter and lack of it and the work of our imagination upon it. Each place has its sonic reality independently on human presence, but when we enter it we become part of it. The space is an invitation to adventure in exploring the physical and emotional geographies of sound which differs between us, as well as playing with sound in unusual ways. By the sound potential of everyday objects, encaged sound fragments and surprising or mysterious background noises, they leave the decision to take an active or passive part to every visitor. My part consisted of this table, applied with a number of objects, suspended in three piano strings, equipped with some playing tools and slightly amplified with contact microphones, four under the table and three at the top end of the strings in the ceiling. The visitors were invited to explore the sounds of the table as much as they wanted. |
